For
those of us during this pandemic who are quarantining, there is a reality of
isolation, for some more than others, as never before. In my life instead of going to the community
center twice a week for exercise classes, I exercise alone using a program on
my computer. That afternoon that was spent volunteering is now extra time to
fill. My Sundays changed from going to church, Sunday School, and then having
lunch with my friends, to streaming the services. What I am describing is
similar to probably 90% of Americans—our lives have changed!
With
time, I have developed a routine that works. But several weeks ago, a sense of
desolation invaded my peace, and there seemed to be no cure to these intense
feelings of disconnection. Phone calls or visits with friends and family
yielded little satisfaction.
During lunch
one day, I listened to the hostess of a T.V. show who was interviewing David
Jeremiah, a Christian minister. When he spoke the words of the gospels and
their relevance to the concepts in his book, something in me resonated with
what he was saying. With the ministry of this interview, that hole in my soul began to mend, and the peace for which I
had been looking all these weeks washed over me.
Thought:
I, as everyone, need loving and positive interactions with my friends and
family, but somewhere along the way, I neglected that spiritual side of me, and
my soul became hungry, craving to be fed.
Recipe for Living
Reach within to that creative mind and that place of faith;
Reach
out to family and friends;
Reach
out to help those in need;
Reach
up to God and:
Love
Him with all your heart,
And
with all your soul,
And
with all your mind,
And
with all your strength
(Scripture
from Mark 12:30)
